Dr Kevin Lowe

Physical Rehabilitation Specialist

Dr Kevin Lowe graduated with MBBS Honours (UNSW) in 1977. He has worked, taught, and been involved in research, at major Sydney Hospitals (both Adult and Paediatric). In addition he has worked and taught overseas. He has also gained many years of experience in private practice. Dr Lowe has a particular interest in Physical Rehabilitation Medicine utilising non-surgical therapies.

Dr Lowe has both Australian qualifications and overseas qualifications in Medical Acupuncture and is a Fellow of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College. He also has a strong interest in the use of Photobiomodulation (Low Level Laser Therapy).

In 1987 Dr Lowe qualified as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners, with an interest in sports related and musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr Lowe completed training in Adult Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, and Adult and Paediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine.

Dr Lowe worked as Staff Specialist at the Royal North Shore Spinal Injuries Unit from 1995 to 1996.

Dr Lowe worked at the Sydney Children’s Hospital from 1995 to 2018 as Staff Specialist and Conjoint Lecturer in Paediatrics at the University of NSW. During this time he developed the Rehabilitation Department (Head of Department from 1996-2006). He established the Botulinum Toxin Program in 1998, and the Cerebral Palsy Service. (He was Director of the Cerebral Palsy Service from 2004-2013).

Dr Lowe set up the NSW State Wide Motion Analysis Service (Director from 1998 to 2008).

He had the role of Principal Investigator / Co-Investigator in various research projects involving the treatment of Physical Disabilities, in particular the use of Botulinum Toxin and Neuromodulation using Electrical Stimulation. He has been involved in presentations at National and International Conferences.

Dr Lowe trained in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound through Australian, American and European associations, in order to be more accurate in diagnosis, and in treatments involving injections. He has also completed accredited training through the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine (AAOM).

Dr Lowe has a number of Specialist qualifications. His Fellowships/ qualifications include MBBS (Hons) UNSW, MHA, Dip MSM, FRACP, FAFRM (RACP), FRACGP, FAMAC.
